I found this quote by P.D. James in my inbox this morning. It resonated with me enough to post about it.
Open your mind to new experiences, particularly to the study of other people. Nothing that happens to a writer – however happy, however tragic – is ever wasted. Write what you need to write, not what is currently popular or what you think will sell.
Okay, I was feeling quite grumpy this morning and after I read that, I thought, she’s right. Feeling grumpy isn’t a new experience, least of all for me, but I could use that emotion and write something with it.
I kept going through my emails, one titled ‘You Can Make a Living From Writing’ which my brain read as ‘You Can Make a Writing From Living’.
Thanks brain. I got the message the first time. Nice try though.
