I’ve never written for travel before, probably because I’ve never been anywhere spectacular. If you’ve been somewhere spectacular and you’re itching to write about it, check out this weekly competition run by The Telegraph.
Each week one wandering writer’s work is featured on ‘Just Back’ and receives £200 (or any other currency, if you’re eligible). The 500 word articles can be on anything and any place as long as it’s about travel.
As if getting your writing picked and earning a little money isn’t good enough, at the end of the year the best work is selected and given £1000.
Although entry is free, the catch is where you live. ‘Just Back’ is open to everyone in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland. Well, that rules me out. If you’re in the area, and you’ve been somewhere (anywhere), this would be perfect.
See this page for more details about where, how and when to send your writing (apparently the deadline is each Wednesday).
With a weekly submission, your chances of being chosen skyrocket. Also money. Money is nice.
